What Do I Need To Know As A Web Designer?

Okay at the moment I know:
HTML
CSS
Programs I can use:
Dreamweaver and rest of the Adobe Suite (I studied Desktop Publishing)
Joomla.
So I know PHP is important, what else?

I disagree with the “50%” knowledge… You probably know about 10% (I am generous today…) of what you need to know to be a good web DEVELOPER. (And since you use DW, you will never progress: dreamweaver prevents you from learning to code properly)
As a web DESIGNER, you just need to be good at graphics (as an ARTIST). The coding behind is not your concern!
I work with designers, make their “images” to “work”: they supply me with “how the screen must look” images (Photoshop, layers, so I can cut them properly). I am often flabergasted by their designs! I wonder where they find the inspiration!
They are astonished to see the site working afterwards, and wonder how I made it work…
    They PAINT.
    I CODE.
    Each one his own skills.
But if you want ot get into coding:
(X)(D)HTML, XML, CSS, javascript, ASP, JSP, ASP.net, PhP, Perl, Oracle, mySQL, AJAX, Java (not javascript!), C and C++ would provide you with the basic knowldge to be a fully blown developer. (and that is not covering GAMES!)

Man you already have more than 50% knowledge.
    Now get to advanced things.
PHP will be your food, HTML/CSS is air and water….
    what about some dessert?
Learn Javascript or VBscript. It’ll make you build better working websites.
Then you should also have basic graphics designing knowledge. Its good that you already have got ADOBE suite. Use Photoshop, Imageready things. Buy —- for dummies books. Learn it fast.
Hope you’d soon be creater of some cool websites in a few months.

Microsoft has a web page design program.
However, I use InMotion Hosting and they have a site builder that makes a beautiful web site easily.
