What Are The Best Content Management Systems For An Online Newspaper?

The online newspaper is going to be a high school newspaper. I’m looking for something that is efficient and easy to use (and still affordable). Something that has ease in accompanying videos would be great. If people who do not have experience with HTML/PHP would be able simply update the site with news articles, that would be great, too. I’ve researched software a bit and found Drupal or Joomla to be the most popular, but I’ve also heard of a program called PHPCow ($100), which claims to not require advanced skills such as coding. I don’t know much about the differences between Drupal and Joomla, however.

What’s The Best Way For Me To Build A Web Site Where Users Can Submit / Search/ Browse Other User Reviews?

Is this easy? I am not a programmer. Do I use PHP/ MySQL? Ruby on Rails? What about Joomla or something like that? Is a site with submitted user reviews called a “CMS”? Is there a template or simple program where most of the programming is done for me? Should I just pay a pro to do this for me? How much might it cost? Thanks in advance!! :-)

I would like to master one of the open source CMS in order to design and develop websites. I don’t have any programming background all I know is only HTML. Can someone suggest which one of these is ideal for me to learn?
What are the comparative advantages and disadvantages of these three Content management systems? Your advice would be a valuable help to me.
Thanks .

What Is The Best Web Building Program Without Knowing The Code?

What is the best web building program without knowing the code?
I’ve tried Web Easy Professional, WYCIWYG 5.0, Web Studio 4.0, joomla and some other, but they all are missing some features, like drop-down menu or you cannot stratch the page depending on the screen size and some others.

What Kind Of Cms Software Is Best For A Newspaper Company?

I’ve thought about using Joomla but there also is other programs like Mambo and Drupal. I need one that is easy and highly customizable. Anyone with ideas on different CMS?
Thanks in advanced :)

Cms (content Management System) – What’s The Best Solution Out There That’s Worth Buying Or Free?

I’ve looked at so many, my brain is spinning. ModX, Expression Engine, Textpattern, Joomla, Drupal… too many to choose from. Basically as many things that are important to me that i can think of right now are listed here: (or a start anyway)
Ability to do it from my mac. I think most are mac compatible, but just in case. (i think dot net nuke isn’t?)
ABILITY TO USE OUR OWN TEMPLATES – I don’t want/ need to choose from any pre-existing templates. We build sites professionally using HTML and CSS — just looking for a CMS that’s easy to implement/use with our own html designs/templates.
MAKES SENSE – Stuff’s easy to organize, makes logical sense on how things are arranged — i don’t want to have to spend a whole month just finding things. :)
ABILITY TO HAVE SECONDARY PAGES/NAVIGATION — and sometimes even a third “level” of pages. Hierachical levels.
ABILITY TO ADD FUNCTIONALITY (via modules, or whatever) for things like: events, news items, staff members, graphical calendar, site search, members-only part of site (is this possible? user management?), admin control (multiple admins with various admin capability), photo galleries, blogs (?), “store”, .. etc.
Just looking for something that’s worth putting the effort, time, and energy into learning — something that’s customizable enough that it will work for plenty of sites, rather than finding out that it’s missing some core feature that we need for one, or whatever.
I’m pretty proficient in HTML and CSS. Just haven’t gotten a handle on this CMS stuff yet. We currently work with a programmer that does custom php solutions for us for most projects — just to give you an idea of where i’m coming from/what i’m familiar with.
anyway… thoughts anyone? advice? anything i should know? pointers? tips? ;)

Best Way To Learn Advanced Php?

I am a programmer. I recently finished school and started working as a web developer. I had to learn some PHP and I know the basics of PHP, and maybe even some intermediary skills. The thing that bugs me is that I don’t start php applications from scratch. I am currently implementing content managed websites with Joomla, and I know how to edit most of php code of Joomla in order to suit my requirements.
My question is, I wish to learn PHP advanced and I wish to start something from scratch but it seems that when I try to implement some complex PHP application I fail. Do you have any suggestions about this?
Any which is easier? PHP or ASP.net? I think ASP.net is easier. I coded a website with ASP.net but without a CMS and I found it relatively easier. And please note that I created this website in school. Now I’m working and PHP is still bugging me a bit, but I really wanna learn it inside out. Anyway… any suggestions?
Thanks.

I Got An Acct W/ Dreamhost Ive Never Done This Before I Want To Know My Best Options Are For Development ?

I know they have a “getting started” page but it sucks and all i get are more questions from it. I have Ubuntu and Firefox. so far ive installed “Bluefish” (html editor) FTP from firefox. I think this will work okay right ? maybe i could just use a website builder just to get the site up quickly. if i use templates would I have complete SEO control ? My only exp. is using a free website builder from brinkster and i need to figure the best possible way i can create a interactive site with a “Build your own” cowboy rhinestone shirts. so there would be a top a bottom, the “cut” which joins them and special extras like flashy embellishments, rhinestone designs etc..the person can choose from different fabrics and then see what it will look like all together. Would i be best to use flash for this ? where should i get something like that ? how advanced is it to do a site with this capability ? how should i do it ? Flash ? javascript ? What about Joomla ? could this help me in any real way ?
