Hello people, please I need your help on this subject. I have a great idea for a new social networking website it not like facebook or myspace, its just different and my research shows this idea will grow faster than ever but I need to build it from the scratch myself I dont know much web design or programming but I heard that there are social networking softwares I can use like drupal or Joomla, please advise me on how to start build this website, step by step procedures, and length of time it will take. I know programming is the key to socila network design, what is the easiest tool I can use to get this off the ground, thanks.

Is this easy? I am not a programmer. Do I use PHP/ MySQL? Ruby on Rails? What about Joomla or something like that? Is a site with submitted user reviews called a “CMS”? Is there a template or simple program where most of the programming is done for me? Should I just pay a pro to do this for me? How much might it cost? Thanks in advance!!

I’m looking to make a google mashup site. A site that can capture user info. Basically i want the user to be able to tag a specific spot and enter around 8-10 different pieces of info, a image or video. Then displaying all this info in a google mashup. This of cause needs to be searchable and filterable. Is something like this possible with a program like Drupal or Joomla. I don’t really know coding so i’m looking for something manageable.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

I use dreamwaver, Photoshop and other tools. But I don’t know nothing about joomla. The information i’ve found today is extremely techie and confuse for me. I’ve got a new hosting service with fantastico and it has great programs. How must I start? Is out there a manual for humans, not for linux nerds? (I use linux, windows and Mac OSx but I must build the site in windows and then transfer it to the linux hosting service).
This web site is for our federation, with info for people about training, events, data base with fitness technicians, a forum, image gallery. I’ve been told Joomla can make it easier for me. Please, Please, help me.

Can a novice use Joomla to successfully build websites like fantasybaseball101.com or are programming/ web design skill imperative? I am a novice, but created fantasybaseball101.com with Yahoo Site Builder. I want to upgrade, possibly to Joomla, and am trying to get a feel for what resources I need in addition to my basic skills to be successful with Joomla.
