My original idea was to create a website about gambling smart and knowing how to “beat the casino” I bought a domain “playkeen.com” and was going to use joomla as my script.
After giving it some thought it sounded like a waste of time to me. I decided to look for something else for the site and noticed like video game scripts, community scripts, cms, etc etc. There is so much out there I cant decide
What would be the best script/program to use for my domain name playkeen.com. It dosent matter if I have to pay for it or not I just want to build a website now that has the slighest opportunity to make a profit

I’m looking to make a google mashup site. A site that can capture user info. Basically i want the user to be able to tag a specific spot and enter around 8-10 different pieces of info, a image or video. Then displaying all this info in a google mashup. This of cause needs to be searchable and filterable. Is something like this possible with a program like Drupal or Joomla. I don’t really know coding so i’m looking for something manageable.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

I am a freelance journalist planning to start a web magazine. For this i need to learn web programming, but i have no idea about how to start ? I mean I dont know anything about basics of programming for the WEB. Even things like web server, FTP or any other terms are not known to me .
I basically want to focus on learning JOOMLA CMS for making my site because we want to use Ijoomla magazine component for it .
Please suggest how should a novice like me start learning the terms and tricks of web design ….
I would also appreciate if someone can tell me where in central india, I can find tutors for this…

Ok so whenever I ask about languages, I always get the most convoluted answers ever. I have been doing PHP programming for about a year, but on and off and nothing serious. I read an article about why PHP sucks, and it really hit home, especially one of the statements.
“A lot of open source projects are written in it, such as Joomla, Wordpress, and MediaWiki. All of their code is hideous, and half of the time there’s random HTML in the middle of their scripts because, of course, we’re working with webpages and why would you ever want to abstract the output from the logic?”
The sarcasm and utter truth from this comment make me laugh. I have been reading some of the best books from some of the best programmers, and the code is always going in and out of PHP, HTML inside and out in a confusiong manner.
I basically want to know your opinion of PHP (and if not a high one, an alternate language and why) but no one ever gives any specifics so I thought I would bring up a good point .

I already have my own domain name. and a good size web hosting package to work with. I now need help figuring out the development part. I have tried Joomla, but afer a while it just begins to confuse me. (should I give joomla another try?) What about frontpage? If could help me I would highly appreciate it.

I want to break into website designing and publishing, and I need some advice on where to start. I have used Flash and I am being introduced to ActionScript 3, Joomla, and I am learning some basics of PHP, CSS and HTML.
How should I process all of this information, and is there a particular sequence in which I should learn this information?
My goals are to set up basic websites with some flash components for people I know, and I want to be somewhat self-sufficient in the maintenance and architecture.
